European Hunting

Target Game: Red stag, roe deer.

Best Months: September to October. Stalking peaks during the dramatic autumn “rut” (mating season), which ends on 20 October.

Permit Requirements: UK Visitor’s Firearm Permit (for rifles). Must be sponsored by a UK resident or outfitter 6–8 weeks in advance. Written permission on a managed private estate is required.

Target Game: Red deer, roe deer, wild boar, European bison.

Best Months: September (Red Stag rut) and November to January (driven wild boar and European bison). Winter snow provides perfect tracking conditions.

Permit Requirements: State Hunting License Voucher and a Voucher of Invitation, arranged by outfitter via the Polish Hunting Association.

Target Game: European brown bear, red stag, chamois.

Best Months: September to October (Red Stag and Chamois) and April to May (Spring Brown Bear).

Permit Requirements: Official Hunting Invitation and a Temporary Hunting License issued by the Ministry of Environment. Specific CITES tags or state harvest permits pre-allocated by outfitter.

Target Game: Red stag, fallow deer, wild boar.

Best Months: September (Red Stag) and November to December (Fallow Deer and Driven Boar). September is globally legendary for Hungary’s world-record Red Stag roar.

Permit Requirements: State Hunting License Voucher, managed by outfitter through Hungarian hunting authorities alongside a weapon import declaration.

Target Game: Four unique subspecies of Spanish Ibex.

Best Months: November to December (Ibex Rut) and April to May (Spring Stalking). The late autumn rut is best, as the largest trophy males descend from the highest crags.

Permit Requirements: Spanish Hunting License (specific to the autonomous region) and a Temporary Gun Import Permit issued by airport Customs/Guardia Civil upon arrival.

Target Game: Alpine Ibex, chamois, red deer.

Best Months: August to October. Late summer into early autumn offers safe mountain pass traversing and clear weather windows.

Permit Requirements: Guest hunting card (Jagdgastkarte) issued by the local provincial hunting authority, along with an official outfitter invitation.

Target Game: Chamois, red deer, Eurasian brown bear.

Best Months: October to November (Autumn Chamois) and April (Spring Bear). Late autumn brings the chamois into their striking, dark winter coats.

Permit Requirements: State-approved foreign hunting license and temporary firearm import declarations managed by outfitter.
